The late pianist Max Morath loved America, it’s music, it’s popular culture. His commentaries on American life on stage, TV, radio and through his books and performances, reflected his continuing fascination with our country’s creativity. His television show was also an early inspiration for me when I was a kid.
This is my 2003 conversation with Max Morath who became a dear friend and supporter of mine through the years, as well as being one of my first guests on Jazz Inspired. Max was primarily known for his ragtime performances, but he started his career in radio and as a jazz musician.
